A channel is the entity object representing created in the system to represent each of your telephone lines picked up within the system. The channels populate the Directory automatically as soon as they are being used and are added automaticallly into a default folder, called Discovered channels.
Each individual channel object can be edited afterwards, moved into a different group and if required, you are also given the option to manually add channels manually, if requiredwithin the system.
