Configure your SMDR output
The NEC DXE phone system sends SMDR information via a serial connection. You will need to directly connect a serial cable from the NEC DXE phone system to the PC that NetPBX software is installed and running on.
However, the NEC DXE doesn't have SMDR output enabled by defalut, so you will need to speak with your phone maintainer for more information about the output configuration.
Installing NetPBX
The NEC DXE phone system sends SMDR information via a serial connection. To collect the data from the serial port and send it to TIM Plus, you will first need to install NetPBX software. For setup instructions, click on the link below:
Configuring TIM Plus
Once NetPBX is configured and collecting data, log on to TIM Plus as usual and apply the following settings:
- Click on the tab.
- Select the site configured during the setup wizard and click
- Within the Site Properties window, select NEC DXE from the PBX model drop-down list.
- In the Connection method field select No connection required from the drop-down list.

By default the NEC DXE doesn't have SMDR enabled. You will need to speak to your system maintainer to get SMDR enabled.
Configuring TIM Plus
Below you will find steps on how to configure TIM Plus to listen for SMDR data from your NEC DXE:
- Browse to TIM Plus as normal and login with your credentials.
- Click on the tab.
- Click on the site configured during the setup wizard and click or create a new site and click .
- Within the Site Properties window, select NEC DXE from the PBX model drop-down list.
- In the Connection method field select No connection required from the drop-down list.
- Finally, click on the button.
