The NEC NEAX can be configured to send its SMDR data over a serial (RS232) or an IP connection. Click on one of the links below that relates to your preferred connection method.
These instructions should assist in configuring your NEC NEAX to work with TIM Enterprise. If you are not familiar with PBX configuration, please contact your system maintainer.

| Connection type | Serial Output or IP: If you have configured the NEC NEAX to send the SMDR information via a serial connection, you will need to directly connect a serial cable from the NEC NEAX to the PC that NetPBX is installed and running on. |
| Cable configuration | Null-mode/Crossover or Straight-through. Please check your NEC NEAX manual. |
| IP method | If the NEC NEAX is configured to send the SMDR information via TCP/IP, the actual installation of TIM Enterprise can be anywhere on the network that the PBX is connected to. The NEC NEAX will need to be configured to output SMDR data via TCP/IP so TIM Enterprise can connect to it. TIM Enterprise will connect to the NEC NEAX on TCP port 2599. |
You will need to speak to your system maintainer to enable the SMDR output.
Configuring your Serial connection
Using the CAT (Customer Administration Terminal) in the system-programming mode, enter the following settings:

| CM08 | If SMDR for incoming calls is enabled, specify whether it applies to all incoming calls or only to those with Account Codes.
Include ANI/Caller ID for incoming calls.

Configuring TIM Enterprise
Below you will find steps on how to configure TIM Enterprise to listen for SMDR data from your NEC NEAX:
- Browse to TIM Enterprise as normal and login with your credentials.
- Click on the tab.
- Go the the point in the Directory where you need to add the PBX Object and add a PBX with the name 'NEC NEAX'.
- Left-click on it and select .
- From the settings tab select NEC NEAX from the PBX model list.
- In the tab select Establish TCP connection to PBX from the Connection method list.
- In the Host field enter the IP Address of your NEC NEAX.
- In the Port field enter in 2599.
- Leave the Username field blank and enter your Password.
- In the IP script field select NEC NEAX from the drop-down list.
- Finally, click on the button.
